The Red House is a non-profit making residential care home for the elderly, delivering the highest standards of care in a happy friendly and homely environment, in which the dignity, privacy and independence of residents is respected and preserved. All residents receive individual care plans based on their own personal needs and requirements.
Conveniently positioned in the centre of the attractive market town of Sudbury, the magnificent Georgian listed building sits proudly within an acre of beautiful and well-maintained gardens, which are surrounded by an enchanting curved red brick wall. The Red House offers a secluded and truly idyllic setting for our residents to enjoy.
Our beautiful home dates back to the 16th Century, and is one of the finest houses in Sudbury. It has an incredibly rich and interesting history that we enjoy sharing with our residents and visitors. More about the history of our building can be found here.

There is now no limit on the number of named visitors each resident can have or visits which they can receive in a single day. To reduce the risk of infection all visits inside the home will continue to be supported by testing and wearing PPE and it is advised that close personal contact should remain brief.
We understand how important it is to stay in contact with family and friends and we are still welcoming visits in our external visiting room and in the garden (weather permitting) We also have Ipads that can be used to video call so you can keep in touch.
Residents continue to be able to make visits out of the home and will not have to isolate when they return. Residents should be accompanied by either a member of care staff or a named visitor/s and continue to follow the government guidelines of washing hands regularly, keeping social distance and remaining outside. Visits outside the home will also continue to be supported by testing.
We are still running daily activities to ensure that resident’s hobbies & interests are supported and we are taking measures to ensure that we do this safely.
Our visiting room is fully functional with a substantial screen dividing the two parts as recommended by legislation.
